HIV breakthrough in Africa

I read an article about a break through in the HIV war in Africa. The article was originally published in the New York Times. The article explains how a new gel has become available to women in Africa. This gel is alleged to reduce the transmission of the HIV virus through sex. The gel is applied 12 hours before sexual contact. This gel has allowed women to protect themselves without the consent of a man. Many worry that the gel will decrease the use of condoms within sexual relations.
I chose this article because I believe it's not just important for the rights of Africans but also has advanced woman's rights in the continent of Africa.
